Mobile IV Hydration at Home

IV for Dehydration, Delivered to Your Door

An IV for dehydration puts fluids and electrolytes straight into your bloodstream, and Intravene brings it to your home, hotel or office. A registered nurse with ICU or ER critical-care experience checks your vital signs, places the IV and stays with you until the bag is empty.

Drips start at $194 with the nurse visit included, most visits take 30 to 60 minutes, and same-day visits are often possible where nurse availability allows. Book online or call the team for your area.

Should you get an IV for dehydration, or go to the ER?

An IV for dehydration may help when you’re losing fluid faster than you can drink it back. That often looks like a stomach bug that won’t let you keep water down, a long day in the heat, a hard workout, or a night out that left you wrung out.

Common signs include strong thirst, dark urine, a dry mouth, a headache, tiredness and feeling dizzy when you stand up. If that sounds like your day, IV therapy for dehydration from a visiting nurse can get fluids back in without a waiting room. Our guide to IV hydration after an acute illness walks through it in more detail.

Some signs are an emergency, not a house call. Confusion, fainting, a racing heart, almost no urine all day, or a high body temperature after time in the heat mean you should call 911 or go to the ER. Intravene isn’t an emergency service. If you’re unsure which side of that line you’re on, our article on heat exhaustion versus heat stroke explains the difference.

IV fluids for dehydration vs. drinking water or electrolyte drinks

IV fluids for dehydration go straight into a vein, so they don’t depend on your stomach to absorb them. That matters most when nausea or vomiting sends back anything you drink.

For mild dehydration, water or an electrolyte drink is often enough, and it costs far less. We’d rather tell you that than sell you a drip you don’t need. IV hydration for dehydration makes more sense when you can’t keep fluids down, when drinking hasn’t made a dent after several hours, or when you need to be back on your feet for work or a flight.

How to get IV fluids for dehydration at home, and how long it takes

Getting IV fluids for dehydration at home follows the same six steps every time:

  1. Book online or call, and tell us how you’re feeling.
  2. A critical-care nurse comes to your home, hotel room or office.
  3. Your nurse reviews your health history and checks your vital signs.
  4. Your nurse recommends a drip, mixes it on-site and places the IV.
  5. You rest while it runs, usually 30 to 60 minutes, and your nurse monitors you throughout.
  6. Your nurse checks your vitals again before leaving.

IV drips that help with dehydration

Every IV drip for dehydration on our menu starts with IV fluids, and your nurse matches the rest to what caused it:

Not sure which one fits? Your nurse helps you choose once your vitals are in. The full menu is on our mobile IV services page.

Can’t keep fluids down? A critical-care nurse can come to you.

Where to get an IV for dehydration: mobile IV, urgent care or the ER

You can get an IV infusion for dehydration in three places: an ER, many urgent care clinics, or at home from a mobile IV service like Intravene. The right one depends on how sick you are.

The ER is the place for anything severe or changing fast. Urgent care can give IV fluids for straightforward cases, though you’ll travel there and wait. A mobile visit suits people who are stable but miserable, who’d rather not drive while dizzy, or who are stuck in a hotel room. Our guide to mobile IV versus the ER covers the trade-offs, and crews who work outside can read how IV hydration fits into job-site heat safety.

Intravene nurses bring IV fluids for dehydration to homes, hotels and offices in these areas, and each one dries people out in its own way:

How much does an IV for dehydration cost?

An IV for dehydration from Intravene starts at $194, and the nurse’s visit is included, with no trip fee on top. The final price depends on the drip your nurse recommends. Intravene doesn’t bill insurance, and you’ll know your full total before treatment begins.

Paige is AMAZING. She really helped me when I was NOT feeling well. She came over and walked me through all of my options. I was feeling terrible and had never had a IV like this before and she made me feel so comfortable in the process. She’s so knowledgeable and transparent on what she really thinks is going to help with whatever symptoms you’re having. She made the whole experience so comfortable and easy for me. The whole session was about an hour and honestly I felt like a million bucks afterwards! She’s the best and I will 1000% use her again if I’m in need of another IV! If you can request Paige you should because she rocks!

Jessica was amazing! My fiance and I are in town for our wedding and he came down with a stomach bug 4 days before the wedding. She was able to accommodate us for the same day, went over which treatment would be best for him and got him feeling back to normal in time for our big day!

We had a quick response and Paige was at our hotel room within 30 min. She was AMAZING! She explained everything thoroughly, got us started, and was extremely kind. You can tell she takes pride in what she does in helping people and it shows! What a great experience!!!

Amber was my nurse and she was awesome. The IVs are a little $$$ but it’s so worth it because you feel good after. And they come to your house. How much butter can it get.😍

If I could give 100 stars, I would. Having a mobile IV service has been life changing, and I truly cannot imagine a better person to trust with my care. She is not only incredibly knowledgeable and skilled, but one of the kindest, most compassionate people I’ve ever met. As someone with a chronic illness, there are days when leaving the house feels impossible. The convenience of having such high-quality care come directly to me has made an incredible difference in my life. She is always professional, punctual, and makes every appointment feel comfortable and stress free. She takes the time to answer every question, explains everything she’s doing, and genuinely cares about how you’re feeling before, during, and after your IV. You never feel like “just another client.” She treats you like family and goes above and beyond to make sure you’re comfortable. It’s rare to find someone who combines exceptional medical expertise with such a warm, caring heart. She has been such a blessing in my health journey, and I recommend her without hesitation to anyone looking for IV therapy. If you’re on the fence, book the appointment. You’ll quickly understand why so many people trust and love her. She is simply the best.

Jessica saved my life as she made me the last appointment of the day so I could go straight to bed. Was intense to take an IV with magnesium Through the hose I think it was?… When I Hydrate again with Jessica I will have her put the magnesium in the large bag A fluid. It didn’t hurt a bit in mind you I just wasn’t expecting the warm rush. Jessica was very competent and answered all my questions and I would specifically request her again I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re all so good at their job jobs. And I was able to fall asleep rather quickly and that was the point

Paige was absolutely wonderful! She gave me an IV with anti-nausea medication, and I felt better almost immediately. She was so kind, reassuring, and walked me through everything step by step. She was also able to get my headache under control. I was finally able to start eating and drinking again. I honestly don’t know what I would have done without her, and it was so much better than having to go to the ER. This is such an incredible service. I have used them before and will absolutely continue to use them whenever needed. Paige was so kind and caring. It’s so comforting knowing they have such talented, compassionate nurses who can help you right in the comfort of your own home. Absolutely amazing experience!

Paige made my experience of needing an IV after being severely ill easy and comfortable. She was knowledgable, honest, and friendly. She quickly and clearly explained the different IV fluid mixes and add-ins that were most suitable for my symptoms, and let met tell you.. what she recommended gave me relief within minutes. After the few early morning hours of horrendous symptoms i endured, I could only think one thing, I wish I had called sooner! Within 15-20 minutes all my symptoms had either majorly decreased or were gone. Also, thanks to Jordan for connecting me so quickly, super responsive. Prices aren't bad at all either. Highly recommended if you cant drink any fluids because you cant keep them down.. aand therefore can’t hydrate. You will save a ton of time and money if you know you don’t need to go to the hospital and just need an IV

Simply amazing! This was my first time trying a mobile IV. My husband was sick and super dehydrated and was almost going to take him to urgent care, this truly saved the day and he did not even have to leave his bed! 2 weeks later I got sick and called Intravene again. Both of my nurses, (Jennifer and Makayla) with amazing, thorough in checking how we are feeling and making sure it makes sense for our situation, kind, and even checking in the next day to make sure we were ok. will 1000% be using Intravene again and have already been telling friends and family about this absolute magic. Highly recommend!

Very pleasant experience, easy to book. I sent a quick message over on the website, and got a follow up text quickly. They came over within 2ish hours and helped provide options to select the best package for my personal health needs. Makayla was super friendly and reassuring, and frequently checked in to make sure I was comfortable during my service. I would use again if I had a need.

I’ve used Intravene a couple of times now and had great experiences. Lauren’s customer service and bedside manner is particularly impressive! She even warmed up the bag a bit to ensure I didn’t get cold! From reaching out to scheduling at lightning speed, coming over so soon after my initial call, and quite literally making me go from super dehydrated and uncomfortable to feeling great relief was worth every penny. I appreciate that the nurses have such a variety of IV packages to tailor to what the client needs. I will certainly be using this service again and again and tell all of my friends!

What a lifesaver! Wonderful service and a super quick response time. I filled out the web form around noon and had a wonderful nurse, Paige, in my living room setting me up with an IV in less than 2.5 hours. I instantly felt much better, and it was exactly what I needed to kick a lingering stomach bug. Cannot recommend these folks highly enough!

IV for dehydration: common questions

What kind of IV is given for dehydration?

Most people with dehydration get IV fluids with electrolytes, the same kind of fluids used in hospitals and urgent care. With Intravene, your nurse takes your vitals and asks what brought it on, then recommends a drip that suits the cause, such as a stomach bug, the heat or a hangover, and mixes it on-site.

Should I get an IV if I’m dehydrated?

Not always. Mild dehydration usually improves with water or an electrolyte drink. An IV may help when you can’t keep fluids down, when drinking hasn’t helped, or when you need to recover quickly. Confusion, fainting or a racing heart are emergency signs, so call 911 or go to the ER.

How quickly do IV fluids rehydrate you?

The drip itself usually runs 30 to 60 minutes. Because the fluids go straight into a vein, many people notice they feel better by the time the bag is empty, though everyone responds differently. Your nurse checks your vital signs before and after, so you can both see how you’re doing.

Can I get IV fluids for dehydration at home?

Yes. Intravene sends a registered nurse with ICU or ER experience to your home, hotel or office with everything the visit needs. Same-day appointments are often available where nurse availability allows. You won’t have to drive anywhere or sit in a waiting room, which helps when you’re dizzy or nauseated.

Can urgent care give IV fluids for dehydration?

Many urgent care clinics offer IV fluids when dehydration isn’t severe, though you’ll need to get there and may wait to be seen. A mobile IV service brings the same kind of fluids to your home or hotel instead. Severe symptoms belong in the ER, not at urgent care or a house call.

How much does an IV for dehydration cost?

Intravene’s drips start at $194, and the nurse visit is included with no trip fee. The final price depends on the drip your nurse recommends. Intravene doesn’t bill insurance, and you’ll see your full total before treatment starts, so there are no surprises after the visit.
